Patrick started his piano studies at age 4 and his cello studies at age 7. He started cello lessons with Caecilia van Hoof in The Hague, and continued his cello studies with Yke Viersen in Amstelveen from the age of 14. After studying with Viersen for four years, Patrick got accepted to the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Here he finished his Bachelor’s degree with Floris Mijnders in 2015 with honours.
During the period of studying at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, Patrick studied with Maarten Mostert, and completed his Bachelor’s degree the last two years with Floris Mijnders. Alongside these teachers, Patrick had lessons from Dmitri Ferschtman.
While studying at the conservatory of Amsterdam, Patrick participated in many masterclasses and festivals. He completed a masterclass with Miklos Perenyi with the highest distinction. He participated in masterclasses given by renowned cellists like Enrico Dindo, Antonio Meneses, Xenia Jankovic, Pieter Wispelwey, Reinhard Latzko, Anner Bylsma and Xenia Jankovic.
In 2016, Patrick was a laureate of the national cello competition during the Cello Biennale. In 2017, Patrick was a laureate of the Young Virtuoso competition in Sofia, Bulgaria.
In 2015 Patrick replaced his teacher Floris Mijnders, playing Dvorak’s cello concerto with the Rijnmonds Symfonie Orkest in Rotterdam.
Already since a young age, Patrick has been part of multiple youth orchestras. He has been principal cellist of the Viotta Youth Orchestra for many years, touring through Europe and playing a wide range of orchestral repertoire. Also, Patrick was principal cellist of the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
Currently, Patrick is studying in the Master’s program with Jelena Ocic in Amsterdam, where he will complete his Master studies in the spring of 2018.
